Symptom When a subscriber who is provided with the caller ID display (CID) service receives a call, the caller number is not displayed or an incorrect number is displayed. Possible Causes - The configuration of the CID service is incorrect.
- The CID service conflicts with new services.
- The configuration of the call prefix attribute is incorrect.
- The configuration of the software parameter that determines number transmission is incorrect.
- The inter-office signaling cooperation is abnormal.
- The external cable is faulty.
- The phone set is faulty.
Fault Diagnosis Figure 1 shows the procedure for troubleshooting the abnormal display of the caller number. Based on the subscriber category (a voice or a multimedia subscriber), run LST VSBR, LST MSBR, or LST SS on the LMT of the SoftX3000 to check whether the subscriber has the CID service authority. That is, check whether the option calling line identification presentation (CLIP) or the caller identification display during call waiting (CIDCW) is selected for the supplementary service. - Yes => 2
- No => Run MOD SS to add the service authority for the subscriber.
- Check whether the CID service conflicts with a new service.
- Yes => The handling procedure is complete.
- No => 3
Check Whether the SoftX3000 Sends the Correct Caller Number to the MGW on the Callee Side - Start the message trace and check whether the SoftX3000 sends the correct caller number to the MGW on the callee side.
On the LMT of the SoftX3000, trace the messages (MGCP or H.248) sent to the MGW on the callee side to check whether the SoftX3000 sends the correct caller number. For example, if the MGCP protocol is adopted, the SoftX3000 sends an RQNT message containing the caller number to the MGW on the callee side after the call is connected. In the following RQNT message sent from the SoftX3000 to the MGW on the callee side, L/ci is the caller ID and 81320800 is the caller number. RQNT 801784165 aaln/0@191.1.104.1 MGCP 1.0 X:16000408 R: S:L/rg,L/ci(05/24/09/29, 81320800,) - Yes => 4
- No => Check and handle the network problem.
Check the Phone Set - Check whether the phone set is faulty.
- If the MGW on the callee side is a small one and connects to the phone set without the cable tray, replace the phone set. If the caller number is displayed on the testing phone, it indicates that the problem lies in the original phone set. For example, the adopted standards are different (China adopts FSK, whereas other countries adopt the dual tone multi frequency.)
- If the MGW on the callee side is a large one and connects to the phone set through the cable tray, isolate the external cable on the cable tray. Use a testing phone to test the subscriber cables on both sides of the switch. If the caller number is displayed on the testing phone, it indicates that the original phone set is faulty.
- If the phone set is a multimedia terminal, replace it. If the caller number is displayed on the testing terminal, it indicates that the original multimedia terminal is faulty.
- Yes => Contact the supplier to repair the phone set.
- No => 5
Check the Subscriber Board and Subscriber External Cable on the MGW - Check whether the subscriber board and subscriber external cable on the MGW are faulty.
- Yes => Contact the maintenance engineer on the MGW side to rectify the fault.
- No => Contact Huawei technical support engineers.

Use the testing phone to make a test call. If the caller number is displayed on the testing phone, it indicates that the original subscriber board is faulty.
- If the MGW on the callee side is a large one and connects to the phone set through the cable tray, replace the subscriber board that may be faulty and isolate the external cable on the cable tray. Use a testing phone to test the subscriber cables on both sides of the switch. If the caller number is displayed on the testing phone, it indicates that the original subscriber board is faulty.
