PRA Trunk Circuit Fault

Symptom

When a PRA trunk circuit is faulty, the following symptoms may appear:
  • After DSP N1CCN is executed to query the status of PRA trunk circuit, the output indicates that Status is fault.
  • The alarm ALM-4533 PRA Link Fault is displayed in the Browse Alarm window of the LMT.
  • The alarm ALM-4531 PRA Circuit Fault is displayed in the Browse Alarm window of the LMT.

Possible Causes

  • The IUA linkset that the PRA link is based on is faulty
  • The PRA link is deactivated
  • The PRA link is configured incorrectly
  • The E1 cable on which the PRA link is configured is faulty or is not connected securely
  • The gateway is out of service
  • The termination is out of service

Fault Diagnosis

Figure 1 shows the procedure for troubleshooting the PRA trunk circuit fault.

Procedure

    IUA link fault

    1. Run DSP IUALNK with the BSGI module number and IUA link number specified. Then check whether the IUA link is normal.

      • Yes: 6
      • No: 2


    2. Check whether ALM-1819 IUA Link out of Service is displayed in the Browse Alarm window of the LMT.


      • Yes: 3
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.


    3. See ALM-1819 IUA Link out of Service.
    4. Run DSP IUALNK to check whether the IUA link is normal.


      • Yes: 5
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.


    5. Run DSP N1CCN to check whether the circuit status is normal.


      • Yes: The handling procedure is complete.
      • No: 6


    PRA link fault

    1. Run DSP PRALNK to check whether the IUA link is normal.

      • If Manual out of service is displayed, which indicates that the PRA link is manually deactivated, go to 7.
      • If out of service is displayed, which indicates that the PRA link is faulty, go to 8.
      • If In service is displayed, go to 13.


    2. Run ACT PRALNK and then DSP PRALNK to check whether the IUA link is normal.


      • Yes: 12
      • No: 8


    3. Check whether the timeslots and interface IDs of the Q.921 links of the gateway are inconsistent with those of the PRA links.


      • Yes: 10
      • No: 9


    4. Run MOD PRALNK on the SoftX3000 and run RMV Q921LNK and ADD Q921LNK on the UMG to make the configurations on the two sides consistent. Then run DSP PRALNK to check whether the PRA link is normal.


      • Yes: 12
      • No: 10


    5. Check whether the E1 cable on which the PRA link is configured is faulty or is not connected securely.


      • Yes: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.
      • No: 11


    6. Replace the E1 cable or connect the E1 cable securely. Then run DSP PRALNK to check whether the PRA link is normal.


      • Yes: 12
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.


    7. Run DSP N1CCN to check whether the circuit status is normal.


      • Yes: The handling procedure is complete.
      • No: 13


    The gateway is out of service

    1. Check whether ALM-1522 IUA Link out of Service is displayed in the Browse Alarm window of the LMT.


      • Yes: 14
      • No: 19


    2. Run LST TKC to acquire the number of the trunk group that is faulty. Then run LST TG after specifying the group number acquired. The output indicates the gateway ID, namely, Equipment ID.

    3. Check whether the gateway ID is the same as that displayed in ALM-1522 IUA Link out of Service.


      • Yes: 16
      • No: 19


    4. See ALM-1522 Equipment out of Service.
    5. Run DSP MGW to check whether the gateway is in the normal state.


      • Yes: 18
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.


    6. Run DSP N1CCN to check whether the circuit status is normal.


      • Yes: The handling procedure is complete.
      • No: 19


    The termination is out of service

    1. Open H.248 Message Trace Management on the SoftX3000 or on the UMG to check whether the SoftX3000 sends messages for message auditing and receives responses about the auditing.

      • Yes: 20
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.


    2. Double-click the response to check whether serviceState is Faulty.

      • Yes: 21
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.


    3. Contact the UMG maintenance personnel to rectify the fault and check whether the fault persists.


      • Yes: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.
      • No: 22


    4. Run DSP N1CCN to check whether the circuit status is normal.


      • Yes: The handling procedure is complete.
      • No: Contact Huawei technical support engineers.
