Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN), a new radio access architecture defined in 3GPP R8. It features high transmission rate and low latency, and is optimized for packet data. In the E-UTRAN network, multiple eNodeBs are deployed. Two layered protocol stacks are used in the E-UTRAN network to transmit data to the user equipment (UE), including the user-plane protocol stack and the control-plane protocol stack. The user-plane protocol stack consists of Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP), Radio Link Control (RLC), Medium Access Control (MAC), and physical sub-layers. For details, see 3GPP TS 36.101. |
