Precaution of Eth-Trunk (Layer 3) configuration between two routers through Opti
|
Problem Description Two NE40-8s are connecting by one FE link through OSN 3500 transmission. Both sites are running vrp 3 (Version 3.10 RELEASE 2358). We want to add 1 more FE link for increase bandwidth from 100 MB to 200 MB. To meet this requirement we chose the solution to do layer 3 Eth-Trunk for work the link as load sharing mode. layer 3 Eth-Trunk. To confirm the configuration we can check the Eth-Trunk by display Eth-Trunk trunkid. It shows both links are active. We also configure the command (hash-context packet all) for work the link as load sharing mode. then it happen packet loss. by two FE links through OSN 3500. (See Figure01 in attach file) the ping (Packet Internet Groper) loss. Test the link by ping from SiteA_NE40 router to SiteB_NE40 Eth-Trunk IP. Handling Process When the link (SiteB_NE40’s Ethernet 2/0/2 ? OSN-FE2) is down the peer link for this is Ethernet 1/0/2 of SiteA_NE40 is still active under Eth-Trunk and still sending traffic through the 1/0/2 physical interface. When the traffic going through this physical link it ultimately drops the packets when reach OSN of SiteB. The main reason is that NE40 doesn’t sense the remote site NE40’s port or OSN port whether it is up or down. (See Figure03 in attach file for traffic-flow). The same problem happen from opposite direction if any interface of Eth-Trunk in SiteA_NE40 goes down. Solution These types of scenario basically have two solutions: but APDP feature only support three physical interfaces: FE, GE and POS. It doesn’t support other physical interfaces, logical interfaces and sub-interfaces. But, in our case we want to configure logical interface, so, this solution is not applicable. then configure BFD. Suggestions and Summary BFD Provides light-load and short-duration detection for path faults between neighboring forwarding engines. It is better to choose this protocol as solution. Moreover BFD is not available in VRP 3, so, if facing this problem need to upgrade the NE router to VRP 5 (For Ex: v300R002C01B591), then configure BFD. |
