Fault Handling Experience: Fault Analysis of the GPRS Attach Procedure
|
Take this networking as a example: l All subscribers cannot attach the GPRS network. This scenario occurs easily during deployment, but the occurrence rate is relatively low. The main faults are likely to be: -All the Gb, Iu and Gr interfaces are faulty. -Device failure. l If partial subscribers cannot attach the GPRS network, the main faults are likely to be: -The path from the SGSN to the RNC or the PCU is abnormal. -License restriction. -CONNECT PLMN is not added (roaming subscribers) -IMSI restrictions (roaming subscribers or 2G subscribers access to UMTS network) -A Gr interface has failed or the load of Gr link is high. l If individual subscriber cannot attach the GPRS network, the main faults are likely to be: -Authentication failure, which is probably a subscription error. -Location update error; for example, the subscription parameters are restricted. |

| fantastic post. its helpful for me. |

GPRS Attach may be denied a) by SGSN when: IMSI is invaild, GPRS Attach request will be rejected by HLR. IMEI is invalid, GPRS Attach request will be rejected by EIR. Both cases will suspend the USIM card –Registration later impossible PLMN is “forbidden” in USIM: e.g. no roaming agreement between HPLMN and this PLMN, the UE not allowed to switch PLMNs. LAI is “forbidden” in USIM. No RRC connection will be started. |
