1. In a legacy mobile network, one RNC/BSC can be connected to only one MSC. In an MSC Pool network, however, one RNC/BSC can be connected to multiple MSCs.
2. All the service areas of the RNCs/BSCs comprise an MSC Pool area. In this way, the MSCs in the MSC Pool as a whole provide services as a single MSC with a large capacity for the radio network side.
3. Different from the legacy network, the MSC Pool network changes the one-to-many tree topology between CN nodes and RAN nodes to the many-to-many mesh topology.

4. Each BSC/RNC must be connected to all the MSC servers.

5. MSC Pool provides improved resources utilization, enhanced network reliability, reduced signaling traffic, better quality of service.
