Figure 3 Inter-SGSN SRNC relocation procedure http://localhost:7904/pages/31185199/02/31185199/02/resources/figure/ch/SGSN/fig_60_128.png The Inter-SGSN SRNC relocation procedure is as follows: Based on the wireless network situation, the Serving RNC determines whether to initiate SRNC relocation. It sends the Old SGSN the RELOCATION REQUIRED message to provide services for the MS by using the New RNC. The RELOCATION REQUIRED message carries the target RAI (4600012340001) and RNC ID (1111). After receiving the relocation request, the SGSN initiates a domain name resolution request to the DNS server. The domain name to be resolved is converted from the target RAI and RNC ID, such as RNC1111.LAC1234.MNC0000.MCC0460.GPRS. - The DNS server returns the SGSN the resolution result, which is
the IP address of the new SGSN signaling plane, such as 10.161.234.254. - Based on the resolution result, the old SGSN sends the relocation
request to the new SGSN. - After receiving the request, the new SGSN prepares for relocation.
Then, it sends the relocation preparation complete message to the old SGSN. - The old SGSN performs the subsequent relocation procedure.
