Traffic Policing (TP) is used to monitor the specifications of a certain traffic that enters the network and maintain the traffic within a rational range. XE "Traffic Policing" In addition, TP controls the excess traffic to protect network resources and profits of carriers. The Committed Access Rate (CAR) is used to limit the traffic of a certain category. For example, the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) packets can be restricted to occupying no more than 50% of network bandwidth. On finding any traffic exceeds the limit, TP can drop the packets or reset the priority of packets. |
