The relationship between the CIR and the CBS during the rate limit configuration on a switch is as follows:
  •  The CBS must be larger than the maximum packet length.
  •  There is no special requirement on the CBS under continuous traffic as long as the average rate is equal to the CIR.
  •  When the burst traffic needs to be ensured, the CBS is useless if it is smaller than the CIR in kbit/s. Therefore, the CBS can be set to a larger value. The FTP service is a TCP service. Due to the special transmission mechanism of TCP, the traffic rate cannot reach the rate limit. Therefore, the recommended configuration of traffic limit for the FTP service is as follows:
  •  CBS = 200 x CIR
  •  PBS = 2 x CBS

    For example, if the CIR is set to 2048 kbit/s (2 Mbit/s), then:
    CBS = 200 x CIR = 200 x 2048 = 409600
    PBS = 2 x CBS = 2 x 409600 = 819200

  • The configuration is as follows:
    [HUAWEI-behavior-b1] car cir 2048 pir 2048 cbs 409600 pbs 8192000 green pass remark-8021p 5 yellow pass red discard

Set the CIR, CBS, and PBS, rather than the PIR.
The unit of the CIR is kbit/s, and the unit of the CBS and PBS is byte.
