There is just a little difference between both architectures, the first one is a full remote radio unit architecture, so you only need to deploy the physical layer in that case (for example FO) so all the procesing modules are in the central office. The 2nd. architecture deploys the baseband unit co-localized with the radio unit and in central office you have all the controllers modules.
