MAC address agging time default value configured on MA5612 causes thar 3G service of full ip nodeB transmission fail (Present cell down time for a few seconds and up, then down again for few second and so on).

The default value configured on the MxU is 300s and for nodeB transmission boards wasn?t enough time to process Tx packet. After change this parameter to 360s the service restores and work ok.

Thanks for the sharing .

For the MAC-addr aging-time, we really need to find the balance point.

  • If the aging time is too short, a dynamic MAC address is deleted too early. When a device receives the data packets with unknown destination address, it broadcasts them to all the ports in the same VLAN. Such unnecessary broadcast affects the running performance.
  • If the aging time is too long, the device fails to update its address table according to the change of the network conditions, and the new MAC addresses cannot be learned. Therefore, some packets are broadcast due to failure to find the destination address.
