Debate: Who think that legacy SDH technology using MSTP feature can still alive
|
Hi Friends! Who thinks that SDH using the MSTP feature (Hybrid Cross-Connect Matrix) can still been an option for transport services for operators? Or do you think that full IP solutions will replace this kind of technology in a short time? From my point of view and considering my experience in y company, this technology will not be available for more that 2 years. Waiting for your opinions! |

For the future of Hybrid MSTP, I have a different opinion. Although the full IP solution can make full use of bandwidth, but there are still some important services (Voice, Bank, government, VIP users) required hard channel (VC-n) to guarantee the quality of services. Besides, Hybrid MSTP support soft channel (Packet services), which achieve the same function as the IP solutions can do. Furthermore Hybrid MSTP has universal switch unit, it can process ETH/TDM/Packet services at the same time. This feature makes Hybrid MSTP much more powerful than full IP solution. |
| So I think there is still a long life-cycle of Hybrid MSTP. |

Ok it?s a good point of view! For mobile operators that doesn?t act as service carrier I think that Hybrid MSTP is not an option right now. by the other hand, you can deploy that kind of services using MS-DWDM with OTN cross-connection. So maybe for a big carrier of services it?s more reliable deploy metro DWDM to improve the FO usage don?t you think? Waiting for your opinion my friend! |

Yes that make sense. Different customer has different requirements. But there are little customer want a revolutionary change of their network, that cost too much. So we think the proper evolution way is MSTP -> Hybrid MSTP -> MS-OTN. |
