Wavelength
|
Wavelength is the length of one complete cycle. Its unit is metre(m). It is measured by the ration of speed of light and frequency. We know that speed of light is 3 x 108 m/s. SO, Wavelength of GSM 900 is 0.33m. Wavelength of GSM 1800 is 0.17m. Wavelength of GSM 1900 is 0.16m. Frequency and wavelength are reciprocal. So, higher frequency means lower bandwidth. Lower frequencies, with longer wavelengths, are better suited to transmission over large distances, because they bounce on the surface of the earth and in the atmosphere and Higher frequencies, with shorter wavelengths, are better suited to transmission over small distances. |
