This feature is introduced in UMG8900 V200R008C02.

Summary: This feature is used to test the capacity and reliability of the bearer network and peripheral devices by simulating heavy traffic when the service traffic of NEs on the CN does not reach the designed capacities.

Benefits:

For carriers:Through the load test for IP bearer, the capacity of the IP bearer network is verified at the early stage of network deployment to ensure the compliance and reliability of the network design.

Description:

This feature is used to test the capacity and reliability of the bearer network and peripheral devices by simulating heavy traffic when the service traffic of NEs on the CN does not reach the designed capacities. Carriers can configure the MSC server according to the traffic scale and predicted bandwidth in the networking plan of the IP bearer network. Then, the system automatically simulates calls with heavy traffic based on the configuration. The UMG8900 simulates packet receiving and sending in actual sessions on all terminations, so that the number of simulation IP packets on the bearer network is close to or reaches the number of packets in actual conditions of heavy call traffic. The QoS items about the IP bearer network during the dialing tests can be analyzed to verify whether the capacity and reliability of the bearer network and peripheral devices meet the requirements.

This feature can be applied to test the following:

  • Testing the QoS of the IP bearer network used for the signaling links between the MSC server and the UMG8900
  • Testing the QoS of the IP bearer network used for the communication between user planes of two UMG8900s under the control of the same MSC server
  • Testing the QoS of the IP bearer network used for the communication between signaling planes of two MSC servers
  • Testing the QoS of the IP bearer network used for the communication between user planes of two UMG8900s under the control of different MSC servers

The IP load dialing test is usually performed before NEs are put into use on the CN or after network upgrades, when no service bearer is present on the network. It can also be performed to add call traffic when the actual call traffic is low for simulating the scenario of heavy traffic.

This dialing test helps carriers learn possible network abnormalities during heavy traffic, thus preventing serious impacts on services by abrupt abnormalities in commercial use or during heavy traffic.

Dependency:

This feature requires the cooperation of the MSC server.
This feature is applicable to the VMSC, GMSC, and TMSC.
