Transmission Quality Check in the IP Bearer
|
This feature is introduced in UMG8900 V200R008C01.
A solution of transmission quality check for the IP bearer network is developed on the UMG8900 based on a series of public IP transmission protocols. With this solution, the effective end-to-end transmission quality check is enabled for the IP bearer network. When the transmission quality in the bearer network is impaired, an alarm is generated and sent to the O&M center. In addition, an H.248 message is sent to the MSC server so that the MSC server can reselect routes based on the IP route quality.
Benefits:
For carriers: This feature facilitates the carriers timely discovery of the problems about the transmission quality of the IP bearer networks, thus improving the maintenance efficiency. Description: Compared with the traditional TDM network, the IP-based network is added with an IP transmission layer that is complex and may encounter various faults. Therefore, the chance of faults in the IP-based network is by far larger than that in a traditional TDM network. To solve this problem, a solution of transmission quality check for the IP bearer network is developed on the UMG8900 based on a series of public IP transmission protocols.
The transmission quality check in the IP bearer network consists of the checks related to calls and those irrelevant of calls. Through the call-related checks, the transmission quality in the IP bearer network is learned by monitoring and measuring RTP and RTCP packets in the bearer plane. A summary of the information forms the result of the transmission quality check related to calls. Based on this result, the UMG8900 determines whether the transmission quality in the IP bearer network is degraded. If necessary, the UMG8900 sends messages to the MSC server so that the MSC server can reselect routes, or the UMG8900 generates alarms to notify the O&M personnel of the transmission quality in the IP bearer network. Checks irrelevant of calls are implemented through ping tests. The checks cover the entire transmission path of IP packets from the local node on the UMG8900 to the destination node of IP packets.
Dependency:
This feature requires the cooperation of the MSC server. This feature is applicable to the VMSC, GMSC, and TMSC.

What are the specific quality checks that is being monitored at the bearer, is this also checking the MGW generic IP QOS KPIs. I would like someone to mention the most impoortant IP QoS KPIs to check for the MGW in any bearer terminated network to access nodes or others. |
