The IP-based A interface compliant with the private protocol of Huawei is introduced in UMG8900 V200R007C03. The IP-based A interface compliant with the standard protocol is introduced in UMG8900 V200R008C03.

Summary: The UMG8900 supports the IP-based A interface compliant with the standard protocol to interwork with the BSC of another vendor. This improves the compatibility of the core network. The standard protocol is 3GPP TR 43.903: "A-interface over IP Study (AINTIP)".

Benefits: In the reconstruction of the IP-based core network, the IP-based BSS side can make full use of the IP-based core network. This brings huge benefits to carriers in terms of QoS, TC resource saving, transmission cost saving, reliability networking, and optimal resource, utilization. The advantages of the IP-based A interface are as follows:

1. The IP-based A interface can transmit compressed codecs such as GSM FR/EFR/HR to save the bandwidth. The IP-based A interface can also implement end-to-end TrFO to save the TC resources of the UMG8900 and improve voice quality.

2. The networking between the BSC and the UMG8900 is simplified, which facilitates the implementation of the 2G MSC pool networking.

3. The IP-based A interface solves the last bottleneck of the all-IP solution. Thus, IP-based operation and maintenance can be implemented for the entire core network with a low operational expenditure (OPEX).

4. This feature simplifies the reconstruction of the IP-based A interface and the interworking with the BSC of another vendor, and improves the compatibility of Huawei core network.

Description: Telecom networks are evolving towards IP-based networks. With the deployment of the IP-based A interface, all-IP networking can be implemented on 2G networks. According to theprotocol, the IP-based A interface can transmit both the non-compressed G.711 codec and compressed codecs such as GSM full rate (FR)/enhanced full rate (EFR)/half rate (HR) to save transmission resources. When the IP-based A interface transmits compressed codecs, end-to-end TrFO can be implemented to save the TC resources of the UMG8900 and improve voice quality. In addition, with the IP-based A interface, the TDM full-connection networking between the BSC and the UMG8900 can be simplified. This facilitates the implementation of the 2G mobile switching center (MSC) pool networking

Enhancement:
UMG8900 V200R008C03 supports the IP-based A interface compliant with the standard protocol. Compared with the IP-based A interface compliant with the private protocol of Huawei, the IP-based A interface compliant with the standard protocol supports the G.711 and WB-AMR codecs based on the IP bearer. It also supports RTP multiplexing.

Dependency: The documentation about the IP-based A interface compliant with the private protocol of

Huawei is provided with UMG8900 V200R007C03. The documentation about the IP-basedA interface compliant with the standard protocol is provided with UMG8900 V200R008C03.

This feature is applicable to the VMSC.
