Problem Description:

COMMUN_FAIL alarm observed on the EXCA Board of Optx OSN 3500 (5.21.01.13)

Alarm Parameters are 0x01 0x00 0x03 0xff

 

Handling Process:

After accurance of the Alram , check for the Alarm Parameter.

Alarm Parameter : 0x01 0x00 0x03 0xff 0xff

we can check the alarm parameters following below steps.

Root Cause:

The SCC communicates via AUX to other boards. COMMUN_FAIL is communication alarm, which is handeled by SCC. and first point of contact for other boards towards SCC is the AUX board.

Solution:

1- Prepare spare part AUX first.

2- Back up the NE data base.

3- Hard reset the AUX board(pull out and put in again, and
check the pin of the back plane and the board
make sure no bent pins), it will affect the monitoring. If not working then go to next step.

4- Switching the SCC board, if not working go ahead to next step.

5- Replace the AUX if step 4 is not working.


6- At last, make sure the new inserted board software version is match the SCC, if not , please do upgrade it to match the SCC software version

in our case the issue was resolved after reseting the AUX board(step 3).

 

 

 

Most of the time software mismatch with SCC card causeds this type of problem. Software upgradation and hard reset do the job.
