Transmission of CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) Over MW RTN 380 Felipe Sevillano, Transport & Data Planning Department, TELECOM PERSONAL PARAGUAY
Dear All, this time I would like to share with you a feature of Optix RTN 380 that in my opinion it?s really useful for a deployment where fiber optic is not available and remote RRU need to be installed (Front haul solutions). This feature is the transmission of CPRI (Common Public Radio Interface) over microwaves. Sometimes we faced the problematic of deploy a remote RRU for a site and fiber optic is not an option because the cost of the fiber deploymet is too high or very complicated and the time to put in service the site is too short, so I found the RTN380 as a solution to solve this kind of problems. The first advantage of RTN380 is that works in the 71-76 GHz or 81-86 GHz (E-Band ) frequency bands that are, in many countries, regulated under a low level fee or non-fee requested, so operators can deploy this kind of radio links at a low cost. This benefit can be harnessed to easily deploy the CPRI transparent transmission supported by RTN380. Said the aforementioned, the network positioning for RTN380 using the CPRI transparent transmission feature is as the following picture:
