Support A-Flex Networking (MGW Agent)
|
The UMG8900, serving as an agent, provides the A-Flex function (MSC pool solution).A-Flex, defined in 3GPP TS 23.236, is a technology for fault tolerance, resource sharing, and load sharing in CNs. As stipulated, the functional entity of A-Flex is the BSC. The A-Flex function provides an appropriate solution to fault tolerance and helps to realize resource sharing and load sharing in the CN. Therefore, carriers who intend to build large mobile communications networks may take the MSC pool networking mode by preference. This mode may also be employed in the existing large wireless communications networks. Processing on the large number of deployed BSCs is an important part in evolution to MSC pool networking. In this case, BSCs on the existing networks must be upgraded to be capable of the A-Flex function. Upgrading BSCs on the existing networks to support the A-Flex function is difficult, because a large number of BSCs have been deployed, none of these BSCs support the A-Flex function, and BSCs of different vendors vary in planning of supporting the A-Flex function. To solve this problem, the UMG8900 provides the A-Flex function. Then, BSCs on the existing networks can connect to the MSC pool without being upgraded. This feature requires the cooperation of the MSC server. |
