Features

High reliability

The IMS Core is based on the next-generation standard telecom hardware platform ATCA, which is widely recognized in the industry. It supports layered reliability solutions at the board level, including active/standby redundancy, load sharing, and geographical redundancy. The distributed database structure ensures that the system continues to provide services, as the load of an entity, if it becomes faulty, can be automatically taken over by other entities. The IMS Core supports the redundant design of the dual-power supply system, with functions such as surge protection, power-off protection, and overvoltage and overcurrent protection.

Multiple access modes

The IMS Core supports various access modes, including:

  • xDSL and POTS through DSLAM, MSAN, and LAN
  • Enterprise user access through VPN and NAT,
  • Cable TV user access through cables
  • UMTS/GPRS and CDMA2000 terminal access through GGSN and PDSN
  • Other mobile terminal access through WLAN, LTE, and WiMAX

Diverse functions and standard interfaces

The IMS Core supports nondestructive upgrade and expansion, with minimal impact on equipment operation and short interruption of service. It supports multiple authentication mechanisms, and provides security functions such as IPSec ESP, SIP signaling filtering, and network topology hiding. Developed in complete compliance with 3GPP, TISPAN, ETSI, and I-TUT standards, it provides standard interfaces. IMS Core supports IPv4 and IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack functionality to enable the connection of a newly deployed IPv6 network to the existing IPv4 network.

Applications & Benefits

Our IMS Core is widely applied in fixed and mobile networks worldwide. By the end of 2010, Huawei had signed more than 140 contracts for commercial and pilot use of the IMS with tier-1 multinational telecom operators, including France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica, China Telecom, and China Mobile.
