1. Application Description

1) Service Description

SingleRAN is a Huawei wireless solution, which supports one or multiple modes (GSM/UMTS/LTE) on a unified base station, base station controller, or O&M platform.

2) Documentation Description

The following figure shows the SingleRAN feature categories.

SingleRAN features are classified into single-mode and multi-mode features, depending on whether multiple modes are required to collaborate.

  • Multimode features (also known as collaborative features) include multimode base station features and multimode base station controller features. During deployment of multimode features, multiple modes are required to collaborate with each other. For example, to enable GSM and UMTS Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, both the MRFD-211802 GSM and UMTS Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (GSM) and MRFD-221802 GSM and UMTS Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (UMTS) features must be activated.
  • Single-mode features are those without the need of collaborating with other modes. For example, WRFD-010613 WB AMR is only deployed in UMTS mode.

Single-mode and multimode features are described in Feature Parameter Description for a single mode and SingleRAN Feature Parameter Description, respectively.

SRAN12.1 and its previous versions, the feature parameter description documents for single modes include:

  • GSM feature parameter description, which has the letters "GSM BSS" on the document cover
  • RAN feature parameter description, which has theletters "WCDMA RAN" on the document cover
  • eRAN feature parameter description (FDD), which has theletters "eRAN" on the document cover
  • eRAN feature parameter description (TDD), which has theletters "eRAN TDD" on the document cover

SRAN13.1 and its later versions, the feature parameter description documents for single modes include:

  • GSM feature parameter description, which has the letters "GSM BSS" on the document cover
  • RAN feature parameter description, which has theletters "WCDMA RAN" on the document cover
  • eRAN feature parameter description (FDD), which has theletters "eRAN FDD" on the document cover
  • eRAN feature parameter description (TDD), which has theletters "eRAN TDD" on the document cover
  • eRAN feature parameter description (FDD+TDD), which has theletters "eRAN" on the document cover

SingleRAN Feature Parameter Description has theletters "SingleRAN" on the document cover.

Common features for a single mode (such as GBFD-160210 BTS Supporting PKI Redundancy, WRFD-160275 NodeB Support PKI Redundancy, LOFD-070212 eNodeB Support PKI Redundancy, and TDLOFD-070212 eNodeB Support PKI Redundancy) and collaborative features (such as MRFD-221802 GSM and UMTS Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (UMTS) and MRFD-211802 GSM and UMTS Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (GSM)) are contained in the same SingleRAN Feature Parameter Description document but released in feature documentation for each single mode.

2. Highlights

SingleRAN Feature Parameter Description is classified into the following types:

  • Transmission: describes IP transmission in each mode and provides co-transmission solutions for each mode on the base station controller or base station side.
  • Security: provides security solutions for each mode on the base station controller or base station side.
  • Wireless collaboration: consists of collaborative features, such as GSM and UMTS Dynamic Power Sharing, GSM and LTE Dynamic Power Sharing, GSM and UMTS Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, and GSM and LTE FDD Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.

Is there a dependency of those multimode features and co-MPT operation Mode?

In other words: Is co-MPT management a prerequisite for SingleRAN Features or only for some (which)?

Thanks & Regards,

jens

Multimode features depend on multimode base stations, which can be either seperate-MPT or co-MPT base stations.
