“[My 25th Success Story] Wrong S5300 Eth-trunk member port connection caused en
|
Dear admin, One day I found that S5300 Eth-trunk member port connection caused entire branch network down. I thought it’s a big problem & put this problem to Huawei support website for their help. I am very happy to say that I got my desired output & my problem was solved.
Huawei Feedback: The physical and LCP status of S5300 access switch uplink i.e. Eth-trunk1 was UP, and similarly the Eth-trunk1 & VlanIF 160 was UP and configured correctly at distribution switch. The Eth-trunk1 member ports status was also normal on both switches. At access/branch switch, the RSTP role and status of Eth-trunk1 was Root port and Fowarding, which is correct as per designed topology. Upon diagnosis, it was traced that the member interface of Eth-trunk1 on access/branch switch i.e. GE0/0/47 was connected to a user-terminal rather than the distribution. This caused packet copies to be sent to the user-terminal as well as the uplink. Further, the Eth-trunk members couldnt be connected to different peer devices.Upon investigation, it was found that a user connected his terminal to this port mistakenly, since it was left un-shut and vacant previously. It is recommended to shutdown vacant switch ports manually, in order to prevent end-users from plugging their systems/laptops.
