Definition

When the signaling service processing system (SPS) is deployed as a Diameter routing agent (DRA), it can implement intra-network communication and serve as a border gateway to implement inter-network communication. The Physical IP Address and Service Logic IP Address Separation service enables the SPS to implement both intra-network communication and inter-network communication by separating interface IP addresses from service IP addresses. Interface IP addresses belong to a private network segment and are used for communication between devices in a carrier network. Service IP addresses belong to a public network segment and are used for communication with other carriers networks. To ensure security, the peripheral equipment (PE) is configured with private network IP addresses to communicate with external networks. Figure 1 shows the background for the Physical IP Address and Service Logic IP Address Separation service.
