1) Service Description

If you need to expand the network capacity or enhance network reliability, you can use the RNC in Pool solution provided by Huawei.

RNC in Pool consists of the following three features: RNC in Pool Load Sharing, RNC in Pool Node Redundancy, and RNC in Pool Multiple Logical RNCs. The third feature can only be enabled when one or both of the other two features are enabled. Therefore, the RNC in Pool solution applies to the following scenarios:

 

O&M engineers need to upgrade the BSC6900/BSC6910 version or patch in an RNC in Pool scenario following descriptions in both the RNC in Pool upgrade guide and BSC6900/BSC6910 upgrade guide.

2) Documentation Description

a. The RNC in Pool upgrade guide provides the systematic upgrade solution and process by application scenario of the RNC in Pool solution. All versions or patches of one BSC6900/BSC6910 R version share one RNC in Pool upgrade guide. So the ugprade guide is named as RANxx.x RNC in Pool Upgrade Guide, not distinguish BSC6900 or BSC6910. For example, RAN15.0 RNC in Pool Upgrade Guide.

b. The BSC6900/BSC6910 upgrade guide describes the upgrade process of a single RNC. Each version or patch has its own upgrade guide. So the ugprade guide is named as BSC6900 V900R0xxC0xSPxxxx Upgrade Guide or BSC6910 V100R0xxC0xSPxxxx Upgrade Guide. For example, BSC6900 V900R015C00SPC550 Upgrade Guide or BSC6910 V100R015C00SPC550 Upgrade Guide.

When O&M engineers need to upgrade the BSC6900/BSC6910 version or patch in an RNC in Pool scenario, O&M engineers should read the RNC in Pool upgrade guide first for upgrade solution and process, and then read the BSC6900/BSC6910 upgrade guide for single RNCs upgrade procedure. 

Note: The RNC in Pool upgrade guide also applies to the upgrade of GU networks using RNC in Pool.

2. Highlights

The application scenario of features of the RNC in Pool solution involves different networking modes and upgrade requirements. The RNC in Pool upgrade guide describes the upgrade processes of networks in certain typical networking modes using RNC in Pool Node Redundancy, RNC in Pool Load Sharing, and RNC in Pool Node Redundancy+RNC in Pool Load Sharing.
