Video Interworking Gateway (VIG)
|
Introduction of the VIG Function on MGW:
Mobile video services are on the increase with the advent of the third-generation (3G) network. The video interworking gateway (VIG) feature enables a 3G video terminal to interwork with a video terminal on a different network (such as SIP video terminal) by converting video signaling and media between different networks. The UMG8900 can work together with the MSOFTX3000 to implement the embedded VIG function. As the VIG implements multiplexing and demultiplexing of audio streams and video streams, multimedia communication is achieved between 3G networks and other video supportive networks. APPLICATION: The VIG function is applied when the UMG8900 and MSOFTX3000 work together in the following scenarios:
he UMG8900 works together with the MSOFTX3000 to implement the VIG function. The MSOFTX3000 processes the H.245 control signaling; the UMG8900 multiplexes and demultiplexes media streams. When the MSOFTX3000 detects on the signaling plane that a call requires multiplexing and demultiplexing media streams, it creates a calling termination and a called termination and then adds an Mux termination (also called VIG termination) between the two created terminations. The UMG8900 uses the Mux termination for multiplexing and demultiplexing media streams. Benefits:
