Dear admin,

One day, I was going to do  below works in my network but I didn’t know what to do:

Two NE40-8s are connecting by one FE link through OSN 3500 transmission.

Both sites are running vrp 3 (Version 3.10 RELEASE 2358). We want to

add 1 more FE link for increase bandwidth from 100 MB to 200 MB. To

meet this requirement we chose the solution to do layer 3 Eth-Trunk for work the link as load sharing mode.

Then I put my requirement to Huawei Support website for help & received valuable output from Huawei which was very much helpful for me as well as my company.

Huawei Solution:

To do this, firstly we need create an Eth-Trunk and add IP, after that we need to add the two FE interface under the

layer 3 Eth-Trunk. To confirm the configuration we can check the Eth-Trunk

by display Eth-Trunk trunkid. It shows both links are active. We also configure the command (hash-context packet all) for work the link as load sharing mode.

These types of scenario basically have two solutions:

Firstly, we can choose APDP (All Path Detection Protocol) developed by Huawei,

but APDP feature only support three physical interfaces: FE, GE and POS.

It doesn’t support other physical interfaces, logical interfaces and sub-interfaces. But, in our case we want to configure logical interface, so, this solution is not applicable.

Secondly, we have another solution called BFD (Bi-directional Forwarding Detection) protocol. BFD is used to perform fast check and monitor the connectivity of network links and forwarding of IP routes.

In our case we need to upgrade the VRP Software first (VRP 3 ? VRP 5), then configure BFD.

Thanks to Huawei Team
