It is very easy and quick to deploy PID network because one PID board provides line interfaces at the maximum rate of 200 Gbit/s. Two groups of PID boards can be interconnected with two fibers to build a point-to-point 200 Gbit/s transmission system without using any other optical components.  It integrates OTU and MUX/DEMUX units to increase component density on equipment. A system built with PID boards provides ultra capacity just like a WDM system does and also resolves the issues that a WDM system has, such as complex optical layer and complex commissioning. Such a system simplifies the system configuration and maintenance.
