•  The master and slave devices can be specified by setting VRRP priorities. The device of the highest priority functions as the Master device and the device of a lower priority functions as the slave device.

•  If two devices have the same priority, when the two devices are restarted, the device whose state machine enters the Master state first is the Master device. This saves an unnecessary switchover.
