Availability:
This feature was introduced in M2000 V200R008.

Summary:

The CN common configuration management function is used to configure and manage MSC
Servers and MGWs through projects. By using this function, users can view, modify, and
deliver NE configuration data. The M2000 provides the GUI for editing data. The M2000 also
supports the check and verification of configuration data before the configuration data is
delivered.

Benefits:

This feature brings about the following benefits:

This feature provides table-based data editing operations, including copy, paste, drag,
and incremental copy, simplifying configuration operations.
The highlighting function helps users identify the modified data.
Configuration data can be displayed according to different preset conditions, helping
users browse the data easily.
This feature supports data comparison between NEs of the same type. During data
comparison, users can edit the data.

Description

Managing a project

Users can add and delete a project and change the name and description of a project. The
project list displays the information about all the projects.

Managing modified data

The added, deleted, and modified configuration data is stored in a project. Users can
view the summary report of the modified data.

Displaying data on the GUI

The left pane of the GUI is a navigation tree, and the right pane of the GUI is a table.
The navigation tree displays the NEs and the configuration objects of the NEs. The table
displays the configuration data of a selected object. Users can customize the columns and
the display sequence of the configuration data table.
In the navigation tree, the object whose data is modified is marked with a special icon. In
the table, the modified data is highlighted. Users can configure data by copying, pasting,

and editing data.

Checking data before delivery

The purpose of checking data is to ensure that the modified data complies with certain
rules. The checking items are value range, object dependency, object repetition, modified
data consistency, and object compliance.

Delivering modified data

When a user delivers the configuration, the system converts the configuration in the
project into the corresponding MML commands and sends the MML commands to NEs
to make them take effect. At the same time, the system receives and displays the
command results reported by the NEs. Before delivering configuration modification,
users can view the MML commands or export the MML commands to a file.

Importing and exporting project data

The system allows users to import and export project data:
?  The configuration data of a project is exported to a TXT file. Users can perform
incremental export, or export configuration data by the object type or object. The
system can export the configuration data of multiple object types or objects.
?  After the configuration data is modified, users can import the modified data to the
system. If the data to be imported already exists, the system marks the modified data
and overwrites the original data.

Comparing configuration data

Users can compare the data of the same object of two NEs.
The system automatically displays the data of the two objects based on keywords. After
users select the data in the table, the corresponding object in the navigation tree is
selected.
