V oice activity detection (V AD) aims to identify and eliminate the long silence from voice signals to save voice channels without compromising the service quality . In the muteperiods, the CNG technology is used to generate comfortablenoise so that the users willnot feel unnatural in conversation or regard call interruption by mistake. Therefore, a comfort noise generator mustbe configured at the receiving end. The receiver adopts a mechanism to regenerate the main features of thebackground noise. In this way , the smooth assembling of voice segments and silence segments is ensured when the voice is restored. Benifit or carriers: In cooperation with V AD, CNG can guarantee that the voice quality is not af fected in the case of the bandwidth of IP voice streams reduced by a large margin, thus enhancing the call experience of users. This can also guarantee that users do not hang up upon the misjudgment that the voice channels are interrupted when they hear nothing because the IP bearer network breaks down temporarily . |
