1) Service Description

GSM base stations developed by Huawei provide GSM radio access network (RAN) solutions that apply to multiple scenarios based on customers requirements and network environment.
By evolution phase, Huawei GSM base stations commonly used on the live network are classified as follows:

3900 Series Base Stations

Based on customer-centric innovations, Huawei developed 3900 series base stations, which are designed based on a high-performance platform and use an optimized hardware and software architecture.

By the newly designed modules(the Baseband Unit and RF Unit) and auxiliary devices can be flexibly combined and configured, different types of base stations can be used in various scenarios to achieve fast deployment and low operating expenditure (OPEX).

  Since GBSS15.0, when providing GSM services, 3900 series base stations are classified into the GBTS and eGBTS based on operation and maintenance (O&M) interfaces. The GBTS is managed by the BSC and not displayed on the U2000. The eGBTS equipment is managed by the U2000 and displayed as BTS3900 on the U2000. The following figure shows the networking of the GBTS and eGBTS.

3012 series base stations

3012 series base stations are Huawei developed double-transceiver GSM base stations. Due to limited performance and capacity, 3012 series base stations have been gradually phased out.
