One Number Link You (ONLY) Service

This section describes the ONLY service.

Definition

The One Number Link You (ONLY) feature allows a public switched telephone network (PSTN) subscriber to have an incoming call connected to a list of addresses sequentially or simultaneously according to the Intelligent Network Application Protocol (INAP).

The SoftX3000 contacts the service control point (SCP) to trigger the ONLY feature when a called party has registered the ONLY service access code (SAC) in the Subscriber Data Center (SDC).

• ONLY Simultaneous Ringing: When the ONLY feature is triggered for a called party, the SCP sends a CONNECT message with the Destination Routing Address (DRA) and Extra Called Numbers (ECN) to the SoftX3000. The SoftX3000 attempts to connect the call to the DRA and additional numbers. Once the DRA or an ECN answers the call, the SoftX3000 releases the connections with other numbers.
• ONLY Sequential Ringing: When the ONLY feature is triggered for a called party, the SCP sends a CONNECT message with the first called number in an ONLY address list to the SoftX3000. If the first called number does not answer the call, the SoftX3000 sends the no answer event to the SCP, and the SCP sends another CONNECT message instructing the SoftX3000 to try another called number in the ONLY address list until the call fails or is answered.

Requirements for the license	This service does not require a license.

Application Limitations

The ONLY service has no limitations on subscriber categories.

Interaction with Other Services

Table 2 describes the interaction between the ONLY simultaneous ringing service and other services.

Custom ring back tone (CRBT) service	The SoftX3000 can trigger the CRBT service for the ONLY simultaneous ringing subscriber.
Call waiting (CW) service	The CW service may be triggered when a simultaneously alerted subscriber is called. The calling party does not hear the CW tone.
Call transfer (CTR) service	A simultaneous ringing subscriber can transfer an active call to another subscriber. Note that the simultaneous ringing subscriber cannot transfer the call when the subscriber is being alerted.

CW service	The CW service may be triggered when a sequential ringing service subscriber is called. The calling party does not hear the CW tone if the tone played by the next hop is screened. If the tone played by the next hop is not screened, the calling party hears the CW tone.
CTR service	A sequential ringing subscriber can transfer an active call to another subscriber. Note that the simultaneous ringing subscriber cannot transfer the call when the subscriber is being alerted.

This service is applicable to the NGN network.

Implementation Principle

The ONLY service includes the following two types:

• ONLY service implemented through the SoftX3000, SHLR, and SCP

• ONLY service implemented through the SoftX3000 and SCP

Subscribers A, B, and C are ESL subscribers; B and C are provided with the ONLY service and have their numbers bound. A, B, and C are served by the same SoftX3000 but different media gateways: MGW_A, MGW_B, and MGW_C respectively. The three MGWs use the H.248 protocol to communicate with the SoftX3000.
