This section describes the related concepts of the collect call service and how to implement the service. Definition In the collect call service, callees are charged. To enable this service, the caller needs to dial the preset service prefix before dialing the called number. After the callee picks up the phone, both the caller and the callee hear the announcement stating that the call is a collect call. If either the caller or the callee hangs up within 12 seconds (configurable) after hearing the announcement, both the caller and callee are not charged (the charging duration is 0, indicating not charging). Otherwise, the call is charged as a collect call. Benefits | Beneficiary | Description | | Carrier | Carriers can provide more services and the competitiveness and market share of the carriers can be improved. | | Subscriber | Callers can originate collect calls, in which callees are charged. | Requirements Table 1 describes the requirements of the collect call service. Table 1 Requirements of the collect call service | Item | Description | | NE | SoftX3000. | MRS or MRC. | | Function description | The SoftX3000 determines whether to enable the collect call service. | The MRS or MRC determines whether to play the announcement in the collect call service. | | Requirement for license | This service does not require a license. | Application Limitations To use the collect call service, pay attention to the following points: -
The collect call service supports the ISUP trunk and R2 trunk. -
If the collect call service and co-group pickup service are used together, the collect call service supports the ESL, V5, and SIP subscribers. -
The collect call made to the following callees will fail: - Delinquent subscriber
- Subscriber that is not configured with customized call-in right numbered 9
- Subscriber whose Charging type is set to Immediate subscriber table
When a subscriber calls such a callee by dialing the collect call service prefix and the called number, the SoftX3000 rejects the call and plays the busy tone or the announcement indicating that the callee is not authorized to receive calls. - The delinquent caller cannot use the service.
Interaction with Other Services Table 2 describes the interaction between the collect call service and other services. Table 2 Interaction between the collect call service and other services | Service | Interaction | | Call forwarding unconditional (CFU) Call forwarding on mobile subscriber busy (CFB) Call forwarding on no reply (CFNR) | Subscribers can originate collect calls to other subscribers who have registered the CFU, CFB, or CFNR service. The subscribers who have registered the call forwarding service can forward the calls. -
The SoftX3000 generates a collect call bill for the call between the caller and the forwarding party and charges the forwarding party. -
The SoftX3000 generates a common bill for the call between the caller and the forwarded-to party and charges the forwarding party. | | Call transfer (CTR) | Subscribers can originate collect calls to other subscribers who have registered the CT service. The subscribers who have registered the CT service can transfer the calls. -
The SoftX3000 generates a collect call bill for the call between the caller and the CT service subscriber and charges the CT service subscriber. -
The SoftX3000 generates a common bill for the call between the caller and the final callee and charges the CT service subscriber. | | Three-party service (TRIPTY) | Subscribers who have registered the three-party service can originate collect calls to other subscribers. In the three-party call, the callees are charged. | | Conference call service (CONF) | Subscribers who have registered the conference call service can originate collect calls to other subscribers. In the conference call, all the callees are charged. | | Co-group pickup service (GAA) | The subscribers in one Centrex group and one pickup group can answer collect calls of any other subscribers in the same group. -
The SoftX3000 generates a collect call bill for the call between the caller and the callee and charges the callee who has registered the co-group pickup service. -
The SoftX3000 generates a common bill for the call between the caller and the pickup subscriber and charges the callee who has registered the co-group pickup service. | Application Scenario The collect call service is applicable to the NGN network. Working Principle Figure 1 shows the message exchange in the collect call service. Figure 1 Message exchange in the collect call service http://localhost:7890/pages/31185507/03/31185507/03/resources/figure/fig_cn_43_08_0000501.png P1: After the caller dials "Collect call service prefix + Number of subscriber B", the SoftX3000 determines that the call is a collect call. Then, the SoftX3000 analyzes the number of subscriber B and sends IAM message to Bs office. P2: After receiving the ANM message, SoftX3000 applies the MRS for media resource. P3: The SoftX3000 starts the internal timer and plays (or requests the MRS to play) the collect call announcement for subscriber A and B. P4: After the timer expires (the timer value is configurable), the SoftX3000 establishing the call between the caller and the callee. Charging - You can set the no-charge duration for the collect call service by running MOD ITIMER.
- By default, the local office is the charging office for this service regardless of the actual charging case. That is, if the subscriber or incoming trunk uses the collect call service prefix, the local office is regarded as the charging office by default. If the system is required to determine the charging office based on the charging case, you need to run MOD FSFP with bit 1 of P156 set to 0.
- Subscriber A dials collect call service prefix and the number of subscriber B. After the call between subscriber A and subscriber B is established, the SoftX3000 generates a common CDR.
