The local number portability service, also called the LNP service, is developed to support the portability of fixed-network subscriber numbers. The LNP service supports the migration of fixed-network subscribers among different locations or different carriers networks without changing their numbers. For example, when fixed-network subscriber A, who homes to the network of carrier A and uses the number A, migrates to the network of carrier B and enjoys the services provided by carrier B without changing the number (number A), this is called the LNP service. Associated Terms: LNP LNP: It indicates local number portability. When a fixed-network subscriber migrates among different locations or different carriers networks without changing its number, it is called the LNP. RN RN: It indicates routing number. It indicates the number of a specified route, by which the system sends or forwards a message. CO CO: It indicates operator code. It indicates the code of a carrier and is used to identify a carrier. CL CL: It indicates location code. It indicates the home location information of a number. CI CI: It indicates interconnection code. It indicates the interconnection information of toll offices between the local network and other networks. CP It is used to identify a subscriber type. Physical Number It is the routing number allocated to a subscriber. It is an internal private number, that is, it is invisible to the public. Logical Number It is the directory number allocated to a fixed-network subscriber or mobile subscriber. Ordinary Subscriber A subscriber that homes to the network of carrier A is an ordinary subscriber to carrier A. Port-in Subscriber When the subscriber that homes to the network of subscriber B migrates to the network of carrier A, the subscriber is a port-in subscriber to carrier A. Port-out Subscriber When the subscriber that homes to the network of subscriber B migrates to the network of carrier A, the subscriber is a port-out subscriber to carrier B. Port-cross Subscriber When the subscriber that homes to the network of subscriber B migrates to the network of carrier A, the subscriber is a port-cross subscriber to carrier C. Service Interaction: The LNP service conflicts with the prepaid premium service on processing the INAP-IDP message. You cannot enable the function of processing the INAP-IDP message for the two services simultaneously.
