Prologue

The year 2009 marked the debut of Huaweis first integrated IP microwave product, OptiX RTN 900.

With continuous development of 3G/LTE permeating the mobile communications industry, theseven members of the RTN 900 product family have been widely used in six years of wireless backhaul. Huawei RTN is now ranked top 3 in the global transport market.

The Rising Star

The spring of 2015 witnessed the birth of RTN 910A, designed to be the most compact ever.

What is so great about RTN 910A? How about network positioning?

Massive Power in a Tiny Body

 


LTE growth leads to an explosion in service variety, causing a scarcity of space resources at microwave sites.RTN 910A is a 1U-high case that supports six microwave paths and far surpasses its 1U industry equivalents.

With complete integration of service, IF, management, and power modules on one board CSHR, the RTN 910A design simplifies board configuration and reduces network CAPEX with significant results.


 

High Modulation and Bandwidth

 


 

The limited supply of frequency resources in the LTE era drives massive demand for high bandwidth of air interface.Its collaboration with RTN XMC-3 ODU lets RTN 910A support an ultra high modulation mode of 4096QAM and a super high channel bandwidth of 112 MHz. The service capacity of a single link reaches 1 Gbit/s, up from 56 MHz.As a result of these achievements, IF board and ODU numbers are reduced and network CAPEX is cut.

 

Service Port Variety

 

 

Small but mighty! RTN 910A boasts a variety of service ports and cross-connect capability as high as 8x8 VC-4s.

 

High Scalability

 


 


 

LTE is so rapidly evolving that it destabilizes site deployment requirements of the backhaul network. A basic site design on a chain network can now be developed into a small Nodal node as network traffic increases. How is network capacity upgraded while retaining the original network composition?

What would be a suitable implementation for 4096QAM implementation? I bet it will be very tricky one!
