The alarm technology post collection is very useful. The basic check sequence outlined can be applied when investigating why a service was affected some hours or days ago, if the time of impact is recorded/known.

Secondly, a ist of suppressed alams MUST be recorded for the purpose of troubleshooting. And care has to be taken not to suppress alarms of active port because when services are affected it may not be easily detected.
