Problem Description:

we have a MSP Ring of STM-64, MS_REI fluctuation was observed at IN port of SL64 Board (V-type) at Node A end, this also triggered protection switching alarms (APS_INDI), at Node A and Node B. Illustration is given below.

***ysis:

Upon initial troubleshooting, the respective attenuator and patch cords were cleaned at Node A end. However, Alarms got cleared, however, alarms again started to appear on the same port, and APS_INDI also triggered.

Handling Procedure.

1. Clean patch cords at Node A end.
2. Replace attenuators at Pin port of the BPA and IN port of SL64 board.
3. Replace the patch cords and attenuators at Node B end, and check if the alarms are cleared.
4. Loop back the ODF ports at Node A, and check the MS_REI alarm.
5. Loop back the ODF ports at Node B, and check the MS_REI alarm.

Conclusion:

Upon detailed investigation, it was observed a patch cord from BPA-Bin to SL64-IN found faulty and was replaced to clear the alarm.
