[O&M Master] HUAWEI OceanStor Enterprise Storage System — Advanced Functions
|
Definition One or more SSDs of a storage system form a SmartCache pool. Hotspot data is periodically copied from traditional HDDs of the storage system to the SmartCache pool. Then hosts can read hotspot data from the SmartCache pool instead of the HDDs. In this way, the write performance advantages of SSDs improve the overall read performance of the storage system. Features High performance Robust reliability High availability Flexible scalability Strong compatibility Low power consumption High performance: Increases random read performance by approximately five times for web servers, and by approximately two times for file servers. Robust reliability: All data is stored on traditional HDDs. RAID ensures data reliability and security. Data on SSDs is only a duplicate. High availability: A SmartCache pool that consists of multiple disks will not fail unless all member disks fail. Flexible scalability: SSDs can be added online. Low power consumption: A SmartCache pool reduces the overall power consumption by leveraging the combination of SSDs and HDDs. Definition A snapshot is a fully usable copy of a specific data collection. Such a copy contains an image of the source data at the point in time when the snapshot was activated. Data collection: From the perspective of a storage system, the snapshot is a LUN that can be mapped to a host. Fully usable: A snapshot can be read and written. Point in time: Data consistency is retained. |
