System Updating Through BootROM

Update software through BootROM if the host program on the Eudemon 1000E cannot be started.

Prerequisite

On the PC, enable FTP server software, specify the path where system software resides, and create user name user1 with password Admin@123.

Context

CAUTION: 

The method of upgrading software through BootROM is complex and is therefore not recommended. Update software through BootROM only when the host program on the Eudemon 1000E cannot be started.

You can obtain system software through FTP or TFTP when upgrading software through BootROM.

System update by obtaining system software through the FTP is taken as an example and described as follows.

Procedure

1.Reboot the device. 

After the device is powered on, the following information is displayed on the PC that constitutes the configuration environment with the device or on the configuration terminal screen.

1. Press Ctrl+B within five seconds. The system prompts you to enter the password.
2. Enter the password of the BootROM main menu. The BootROM main menu is displayed.

4. Enter 4 and press Enter. Load and Upgrade Menu is displayed.

5. Enter 2 and press Enter. The menu of upgrading application software is displayed. 

<1> Download file.
<2> Modify parameters.
<0> Quit

6. Enter 2, press Enter, and modify download parameters. 

If download parameters do not require modification, enter 1 and press Enter to directly download files

Protocol type:
<1> FTP <2> TFTP
NOTE: TFTP protocol limits the file length to 32M bytes.

Protocol type : 0 1 //Type of protocol that is used

Unit number : 0 //Interface that is used

Server IP address : 10.1.1.8 192.168.0.2 //IP address of the server

Board IP address : 10.1.1.1 192.168.0.1 //IP address of the interface, on the same network segment as the IP address of the server

Board IP mask : 255.255.255.0 //Mask of the interface IP address

FTP user name : ftpuser user1 //User name for FTP login

FTP user password : ftppwd Admin@123 //Password for FTP login

Load file name : sup.bin //Name of the application file to be downloaded

Choose one of following devices to save file: //Location for saving the downloaded application file
<1> flash: <2> udisk0: <3> udisk1: <4> sdram
Download file to : 6 1

Save new bootline...done.
<1> Download file.
<2> Modify parameters.
<0> Quit
Enter your choice(0-2): 1

After download parameters are modified, enter 1 and press Enter to download the application file.

After the download is complete, enter 0 and press Enter to return to Load and Upgrade Menu.

7. In Load and Upgrade Menu, enter 0 and press Enter to return to Main Menu.

8. In Main Menu, enter 2, press Enter, and set the application program and configuration file for the system startup.

9. After the configuration is complete, enter 0 to reboot the Eudemon 1000E.
