What Is the Function of MTU on a VLANIF Interface? Will an Improper MTU Cause Protocol Negotiation Failure?

The MTU of a VLANIF means the packet sending to VLANIF IP address will be filter by MTU, and the packet sending from VLANIF IP address will limit to MTU.
If a improper MTU setting to a VLANIF, the protocol negotiation by this VLANIF will influenced, maybe failure.
