Tool Introduction

1.         The U2000 visualized switch configuration tool provides graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to view and modify configuration items customized by users. The tool, embedded in the U2000 client, does not need to be installed and can run directly. However, the navigation paths of different tool versions differ a lot. This case is written for tool usage on the live network.

2.         Viewing and modifying the configuration items customized by users indicates that the functions required by certain customers are different from the default U2000 functions and the default functions need to be changed by modifying the configuration items to meet customer requirements. 3.         The tool does not support all configuration items in iManager U2000 Configuration Items. The tool can only manage the configuration items whose values in the Manageable in GUI column are Y. (Y means that the configuration items must be set by using the visualized tool and the U2000 does not obtain the configuration items in the corresponding configuration file.) For other configuration items, you still need to modify them in the corresponding configuration file.

Tool Usage

For the U2000 V100R005 and later versions, iManager U2000 Visualized Switch Configuration Tool Instruction is released in the U2000 document directory.

The tool is installed in the oss\client\client\tools\usercfgtool directory of the U2000 client.

Prerequisites: The U2000 database server is running properly.

On Windows OS, run the usercfgtool.bat script.

On Solaris and Linux OSs, run the usercfgtool.sh script.

Operation Description

Configuring the Language

The language configuration file locale.properties is located in the oss\client\client\tools\usercfgtool\conf directory of the U2000 client.

Configure it as follows:

Logging In to the Tool

1.         Run the startup file to open the login page.

 

2.         In the Login dialog box, set parameters and click OK.

The following are the parameter descriptions:

Database Type: Indicates the U2000 database type. The options are Sybase and SQLserver.

IP: Indicates the IP address of the U2000 database.

Port: Indicates the U2000 database port ID, for example, port 4100.

User Name: Indicates the U2000 database user name.

Password: Indicates the U2000 database password. If a user enters wrong passwords consecutively for three times, the user account will be locked by the system. The user account will be automatically unlocked 30 minutes later.

The Config Manager window is displayed, which displays all configuration items by default.

 

Viewing Configuration Items Based on Filtering Criteria

In the Config Manager window, click Filter to set filter criteria.

This is a fuzzy query, and the query result must meet three criteria: Subsystem, Config Name, and Config Value.

Modifying the Value of a Configuration Item

In the Config Manager window, double-click a configuration item record. In the Modify Config Value dialog box, modify the value of the configuration item.

 

After the modification is completed, restart the desired process as prompted (shown in the Restart Process text box).

Querying Failure Information

The operation failure information is recorded in the log.txt file, which is located in the client\tools\usercfgtool\log directory.

The navigation path of the tool varies greatly according to the version. For details, see the following table.
