Symptom

In the Manage PWE3 Service window, after you right-click a PWE3 service, three delete options are available for Delete Service on the shortcut menu: Delete from Network Side, Delete, and Completely Delete, as shown in the following figure.

To help you better understand the differences between the three options, the following describes these options one by one.

1.       Delete from Network Side

If you choose Delete from Network Side, the PWE3 service will only be deleted from the network side. This service is still available on the live network and can be found on NEs and in the NE Explorer. After a PWE3 service is deleted from the Manage PWE3 Service window, the PWE3 service appears in the Manage PWE3 Discrete Service window, as shown in the following figure.

In the Manage PWE3 Discrete Service window, the PWE3 service is displayed as two discrete services with Cause of Discrete Service being To be automatically discovered. To restore the PWE3 service, you only need to perform automatic service discovery.

To sum up, choosing Delete from Network Side allows you to move PWE3 services that you do not want to monitor out of sight.

2.       Delete

If you choose Delete, the PWE3 service will be deleted from both NEs and the NE Explorer and appear in the Recycle Bin window, as shown in the following figure. Before you perform the Delete operation on a PWE3 service, you must undeploy the service. After the Delete operation is performed, the deleted PWE3 service becomes unavailable on the live network.

In the Recycle Bin window, you can either permanently delete this service or restore this service to the Manage PWE3 Service window.

To sum up, choosing Delete allows you to back up a PWE3 service while deleting the service from the live network.

3.       Completely Delete

If you choose Complete Delete, the PWE3 service is completely deleted from the NEs, NE Explorer, and U2000 and cannot be restored.

Suggestion and Summary

Pay attention to the differences between the three delete operations and perform these delete operations as needed.
