Discrete Tunnels Cannot Be Restored to Normal Tunnels Through Automatic Service Discovery

Keywords

Tunnel, automatic service discovery

Symptom

Discrete tunnels can be found in the NE Explorer and Manage Discrete Tunnel window, but cannot be restored to normal tunnels through automatic service discovery.

Cause Analysis

Scenario 1: The discrete tunnels cannot form normal tunnels.

Scenario 2: The discrete tunnels can form normal tunnels, but the discrete tunnel data in the Manage Discrete Tunnel window is inconsistent with that in the NE Explorer.

Only the discrete tunnels described in scenario 2 can be restored to normal tunnels. The following describes how to restore such discrete tunnels.

Solution

Step 1      Identify the NEs that have caused discrete tunnels and perform configuration data synchronization on these NEs. If the NE configuration data has been synchronized, go to the next step.

Step 2      Choose Service > Tunnel > Manage Tunnel from the main menu. In the Manage Tunnel window, click Synchronize in the lower right corner. In the Select NE to Synchronize dialog box, move the NEs that have caused the discrete tunnels from left to right and click OK.

Step 3      After the synchronization is complete, choose Service > Search for Service from the main menu to perform automatic tunnel service discovery.

On the Discovery Policy tab of the Search for Service window, you can either click All for network-wide service discovery or click Select NE for NE-specific service discovery.
