Symptom

NEIP conflicts occur for a large number of NEs in the DCN view. The following figure shows an NEIP conflict on an ATN NE.

Problem Identification

Byte order conversion is not performed for the NEID reported by the ATN950B NE (AND2CXPB) equipped with the ARM CPU. As a result, the U2000 receives an NE go-online notification carrying an incorrect NEID. As the same NEIP maps two NEIDs in the U2000 database, an NEIP conflict occurs.

Problem Locating and Cause Analysis

Step 1      Queried the U2000 database and found an NEIP conflict.

In the U2000 database, NEIP 128.27.195.146 maps two NEIDs: 146.195.27.0 and 0.27.195.146. NEID 146.195.27.0 is abnormal because the four bytes in the NEID are reversed.

Step 2      Queried NE go-online logs from the U2000.

The logs indicate that the NEID in the notifications sent from an ATN GNE is 146.195.27.0, but the NEID in the notifications sent from a CX GNE is 0.27.195.146.

Step 3      Analyzed the NE go-online records associated with the ATN GNE and found many abnormal records.

Solution

On the live network, CX NEs instead of ATN NEs are usually used as GNEs that report NE go-online notifications to the U2000. To remove the NEIP conflicts, delete the ATN NE that functions as a GNE from the DCN view and configure the associated NEs to go online again.

Suggestion and Summary

Do not use ATN950B NEs as GNEs.
