Antivirus software, a basic technology for computer security, is required for all hosts and servers running Windows. The antivirus system uses a virus library to operate. Effective antivirus systems are able to remove viruses from infected files or quarantine virus files if the viruses cannot be removed.

The U2000 is mainly vulnerable to virus attacks and propagation. Taking security measures and integrity protection can effectively defend the system and throttle viruses and worms. Huawei offers OfficeScan 10.5 antivirus solutions provided by Trend Micro for OSS running Windows.

Trend Micro is one of the world famous virus defense companies. Its OfficeScanTM Corporate Edition, providing antivirus and anti-spyware solutions for the enterprise network, is widely applied in the telecommunications industry and live networks. Each year, it is granted certification by many international computer security organizations.

OfficeScan involves two roles: OfficeScan Client and OfficeScan Server.

l   OfficeScan Client: uses real-time monitoring program to display status of the virus or malware and spyware or grayware.

l   OfficeScan Server: is a central library for client configurations, security logs, and client programs and updates. The OfficeScan Server performs two functions:

−       Installs, monitors, and manages clients on the Internet.

−       Downloads server updates and latest components from the website of Trend Micro and delivers them to the clients.

l   Installing the OfficeScan server and the U2000 server on different computers is recommended to reduce performance pressure of the U2000 server. They can also be installed on the same server. The OfficeScan client and the U2000 server must be installed on the same computer, no matter whether the OfficeScan server and the U2000 server are installed on the same or different computers.

l   It is recommended that you install the OfficeScan client and the U2000 client on the same computer to defend the U2000 client against viruses.

Function Description

The Windows operating system running on the U2000 supports deployment of Trend Micro OfficeScan 10.5 to software, hardware, and services on the entire network. Other antivirus software, such as Norton, Kaspersky, and 360, is not supported.
