When a PTN device becomes faulty and cannot resume work by simply replacing a board, O&M engineers can use another device of the same type to replace the faulty one. During the replacement, device data is smoothly migrated to the new device so that services can be quickly scheduled and restored, improving troubleshooting efficiency.

Body:

The U2000 V100R009C00 enables PTN Device Replacement.

Figure 1 Typical scenario

As shown in Figure 1, NE 1 loses all data because its main control board is damaged or device software fails. In this case, traditional protection measures, such as dual-homing protection and cutover, fail to schedule or restore services. To rectify the fault, onsite personnel replace faulty devices and migrate device configurations through the U2000, as shown in Figure 2.

U2000-side operations:

In the Main Topology, right-click a faulty NE (gray) and choose Replace NE from the shortcut menu. Confirm the replacement when prompted until the NE Upgrade Task Management window opens up. The VRC version of the replacement NE is automatically upgraded or downgraded to the version of the faulty NE and then activated.
