Yes there are different documents available on support website. Therefore, it is important to read the more relevant and latest one.

After carefully reading, i came to know that the answer to this question depends upon the following conditions:

If MA5800 configured with two control boards, it does not support the active/standby mode and that the MA5800 configured with two control boards uses active/standby mode for the control plane and load sharing mode for the forwarding plane.

On the control plane, the two control boards work in the active/standby mode and the CPU on the active control board manages the system and processes control protocol packets while the CPU on the standby control board is in the standby state.
·On the forwarding plane, the active and standby control boards share loads. Both boards forward data.

Two control boards, one working as the active and the other working as the standby, are configured on an MA5800 to back up each other.
When the two control boards work in load sharing mode, active and standby control boards concurrently forward service packets, and redundancy backup improves reliability of services as well as doubling bandwidth and enhancing data forwarding performance.

My answer for Question2 is;

MA5800 support active/Standby mode when there is one control board,
but if two control board are configured then MA5800 doesnt supports Active/Standby it workds as load sharing mode.
