Relationship between Security Control Switch and Restart Mode of the IPA feature

Security Control Switch applies to Raman IPA and high-power EDFA optical amplifiers.
Security Control Switch must be configured in each IPA working group. However, Restart Mode can be configured as required.
If Restart Mode is set to Manual and Security Control Switch is set to Enabled, the output optical power of the control board in the IPA protection group is lower than 10 dB during IPA restart.
If Restart Mode is set to Manual and Security Control Switch is set to Disabled, the output optical power of the control board is the same as that when no IPA protection group is configured.
However, if Restart Mode is set to Auto, Security Control Switch must be set to Enabled. In this case, the control board turns on the laser to test whether the link recovers in each test period.
If Security Control Switch is set to Disabled, the output optical power of the control board is the same as that when no IPA protection group is configured. As a result, the laser omitted from the broken fiber may cause personal injury, particularly to the eyes.
