Precautions for MCA connections in the engineering design

The MCA board is the spectrum analyzer board with four or eight channels. It supports the functions of spectrum analysis, optical power detection, and APE. The precautions for its physical connections are as follows:

1. At an OTM or OADM site, IN1 connects to the east transmit end, IN2 connects to the east receive end, IN3 connects to the west transmit end, and IN4 connects to the west receive end.
2. At a ROADM site, the MCA board preferentially connects to the OA port. IN1 connects to the east transmit end, IN2 connects to the east receive end, IN3 connects to the west transmit end, and IN4 connects to the west receive end. It is not recommended that the MCA board be configured at the MON ports on boards that implement the ROADM function, because the port provides only the optical power detection function but not OSNR and wavelength detection.
3. For an ASON, the MCA board needs to be configured on the transmit and receive ends at the ROADM site. The local dimension is configured at the transmit end.
4. The MCA board does not support the OSN 1800 product.
5. The MCA board cannot be configured for the MON ports of the M40, D40, and V40 boards.
