What are differences between command lines on CE and S series switches

Question
What are the command-line differences between CloudEngine series switches and Huawei Ethernet switches?
Solution

Commands on traditional Ethernet switches take effect immediately, while command lines on CE series switches take effect immediately or in two phases.

l Immediate mode: After a user runs a command and presses Enter, the system checks whether the current configuration is different from the previous configuration. If they are different, the system commits the current configuration and generates the configuration rollback point. As a result, multiple configuration rollback points may be generated when one feature is deployed.

To make a command take effect immediately, run the following command in the user view:

<HUAWEI> system-view immediately

Enter system view, return user view with return command.

l In two-stage mode, after a user runs a series of commands, the system checks the differences between the current and previous configurations and generates a configuration rollback point only when the user runs the commit command. This allows the configurations of multiple commands for a service to take effect in batches.
To make a command take effect in two-stage mode, run the following command in the user view:

<HUAWEI> system-view

Enter system view, return user view with return command.
